The exhausted oil
The used edible oil is a residue that comes from frying vegetable seed oils and, more rarely from olive oil, and is in this sense a waste that is a serious danger. Due to its liquid nature it is highly polluting, causes damage to the ecosystem, obstructs the sewer pipes and entails higher costs for purification.
The activation of the collection of exhausted frying oils and fats is an important objective that Ecodep srl has chosen to pursue.
Disposal and recovery of waste oil
If the exhausted vegetable oil is dispersed in the environment and not properly disposed of, it has the following consequences:
-in the ground: deposits a thin film that prevents plants from absorbing nutrients
-in the water table: makes the water not drinkable
-new ponds of water: it forms a thin film on the surface that prevents oxygenation and damages the development of flora and fauna. Moreover this oily veil reduces the penetration of sunlight with damage to the ecosystem.
If instead it is collected and recycled for industrial uses, it has a significant economic and social value. Once harvested, recycled oil begins a new life. Thanks to companies specialized in the recovery of waste oil, after having undergone appropriate treatment and recycling processes, it is possible to obtain various products such as: vegetable lubricants for agricultural machinery, biodiesel and glycerine for saponification.
Recovery of exhausted vegetable oils
Ecodep is part of the CONOE (National Compulsory Consortium for the collection and treatment of Exhausted vegetable and animal oils and fats) whose function is to control and monitor the supply chain of vegetable and fat oils for environmental purposes and the protection of public health.
